Salem Public Transportation

City of Salem has decent commute transportation operated by cherriots (www.cherriots.com) .Most of the routes designed to cover Salem and keizer Cities. Cherriots operate buses approximately in 30 routes covers urban  boundaries of Salem and Keizer.

Transit center ( BUS STAND) Located in downtown Salem ( It is very close to SSN office), all buses are operated from downtown( Except route number 11).

Cherriots buses operate Monday through Saturday .

There is no service on New Year's Day, President's Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Veteran's Day, Thanksgiving or Christmas

How to pay your fare :

If you're using cash, simply deposit the correct fare in the fare box( I guess it is $1.25 single fare ).If you are heading into downtown you pay your fare when you get on the bus , If you are heading away from downtown, you pay when you get off the bus.

Day passes can be purchased from transit operator ( bus driver) by paying twice the cost of a single fare , remember transit operator does not carry change(dollar bills and quarters ) so it is always a good idea to carry some dollar bills and quarters with you .
